Olympic Canoe/Kayak Sprint Racing Program Training for the Sprint Racing Program takes place year round. We have divided our program into seasonal (on water) and off season. Athletes are able to progress from the Youth Paddling Program to Development to our full time High Performance Sprint Program under the guidance of our coaching staff. Below
is a progression of the programs for the Sprint Program and
training schedules. 2007
Program Information Spring
Learn to Sprint Kayak Program Are
you new to sprint kayaking ? Try out our spring intro
program to the exciting sport of sprint canoe and kayaking.
We'll start off in the larger stable boats and progress from
there. Come prepared to paddle everyday. In poor weather
conditions we'll move the session indoors to our indoor
paddling tank or outside on dryland for another alternate
activity. LK1 Tuesday, Thursday 4:30-6:00pm, Saturdays
9-11am May 15 - June 28. Cost:
$135.00 Bantam Program
High Performance Program The High Performance program is for athletes that have participated in the program for a number of years and are committed to a full time training program. Paddlers over 14 years of age (Midget and
Juvenile age categories)
Spring or Fall Session Only For those only able to commit to the spring or fall program for junior development please contact the Club and discuss program details. Fee: $150.00 if you would like to participate in either the spring only or fall only 3-4x per week sessions.
Winter / Dryland Program
The dryland program runs November through April until we are back on the water May 1st. This past winter the athletes were training Wed am, Friday and Sunday evenings at the MRC pool. Afternoons were at the Clubhouse and training consists of weights and body weights, tank paddling, running, medicine ball and other related activities. Saturdays join the high performance paddlers for an optional workout - running, cross country skiing and other activities planned on a weekly basis.
